Become a Certified Scuba Diver

Whether you’re trying scuba for the first time, becoming a certified diver, adding to your diving abilities, or becoming a dive professional, SDI has the course that is right for you!

Whether it’s enjoying the sights from the surface while snorkeling or going underwater to see up close the wonders of the underwater environment, you can check out one of the options listed below that interests you. Not sure if scuba is for you? No problem! Take a “test drive” by participating in a Scuba Discovery program. During the Scuba Discovery program, you’ll get to try out scuba under the guidance of a fully certified instructor. For the young potential scuba divers in the family, SDI offers a “Future Buddies” program. Children ages 8 and 9 can experience scuba in a pool environment with an instructor and when they turn 10 they will be able to complete the Open Water Scuba Diver program and earn their certification card.

New divers as well as “old salts” find many different areas of interest in the underwater environment. Using a dry suit in colder waters or a diver propulsion vehicle in the warm Caribbean waters; divers will find many specialties available to enhance their underwater enjoyment. By taking a specialty class you will by-pass the “school of hard knocks” and begin to enjoy the specialty area immediately. When you have completed four specialties and logged a minimum of 24 logged dives you qualify for the SDI Advanced Diver rating. Add Rescue and 25 more dives and you qualify for the coveted Master Diver rating.

Leading certified divers on that exciting dive over the reef or past the wreck; assisting an instructor teach or watching the new diver’s eyes light up with excitement on that first dive makes it all worth it when you become a dive leader and share your experiences with other’s. As you climb the ladder of professional ratings you will acquire new abilities from supervising divers to teaching divers and dive leaders.
