Running

in Memory of

Jared Hires

In early 2024 a friend of ours was inspiring us by training for the Dopey Challenge. A few months after conquering that challenge, he left us. Jared Hires embodied what it meant to be a devoted husband, father, role model and explorer. Jared entered all his pursuits with passion and a love for life. From the Dopey Challenge to cave exploration, he did it all.

We are taking on the Dopey challenge again this year raising money for Team RWB and the Jared Hires Foundation Scholarship. The Dopey Challenge takes place during the Disney Marathon weekend every Year. For those of who do not think running a marathon is enough the Dopey Challenge is what you do. Instead of just running the marathon on Sunday, runners attempt to run a 5K on Thursday, a 10K on Friday, a half marathon on Saturday, and finally just to top it off, the full marathon on Sunday. For a total of 48.6 Miles (78.2K) all during the Disney Marathon weekend.   Those who complete it receive the “Dopey Medal”.

Jared completed the Dopey Challenge and in recalling his experience he said “This was an awesome experience. I will definitely be back.”. Our mission is to bring Jared’s memory back to the Dopey Challenge and raise money for the Jared Hires Foundation Scholarship.

While we are sad to have lost a friend, we are looking forward to taking on this challenge and follow in his footsteps.  Although he is not with us anymore, we know in spirit we will be following him around the course over those 4 days.

Please join us in helping raise money for these amazing organizations. Don’t worry, we will do the running for everyone else.

“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; Love leaves a memory no one can steal.”

In loving memory of Jared Hires, may you rest in peace. Fair winds and following seas.
