Diver Tips… Looking after scuba cylinders

The poor old scuba cylinder. Talk about taken for granted!
Here are a few simple tips to help you get the longest and safest service out of this piece of essential but often neglected dive gear.

Wow… you folks are creative! Slogan contest is really competitive

In the previous issue of Dive Log we ask you to help Scuba Diving International with slogan ideas for its new line of T-Shirts for the popular SDI Solo Diver Specialty.

We’ve been impressed with your responses… and picking a winner is going to be tough… However, there’s still a couple of weeks before we close off submissions so please keep sending in your ideas.

If we choose your slogan to use on our shirts, you will be given a free online eLearning code for you or a friend or family member. The code will be good for ANY SDI online course (this includes: Open Water, Deep, Navigation, Nitrox, and Wreck). Try your luck!

Come out and see us at Our World Underwater:

Seminars, Instructor Cross-over and Special Events

Our World Underwater is the Chicago area’s long-running consumer dive show open to the general public. It’s always offered divers of all stripes something above average. The menu this year is no different, in fact it looks like there is more variety than ever and it truly is a show that cannot be "done" in one day.

The format of the show includes workshops, seminars, video and still photography presentations and exhitors… like SDI, TDI, ERDI!

Some of the presenters include: Stan Waterman,  Pat and Jim Stayer, Richie Kohler, Cris Kohl and Joan Forsberg, Jason Heller, and Annie Crawley.

On Sunday, we will be running an instructor update for all three agencies from 8:00am – 9:45am in the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in room O’Hare A & B.  Immediately following until noon, there will be an instructor crossover.

More affordable getaways from Scuba Travel International…

The feature guided trip this month is a November 2009 guided trip to the island of Granada to dive with Aquanauts Dive Center, conveniently located right at the marina, just steps from your room! This destination is on the South Coast of Grenada at an exclusive boutique resort in the lush setting of True Blue Bay.

Last month’s featured guided trips still have spots available… The first feature is a unique opportunity in July to snorkel with Whale Sharks off Isla Mujeres, near CanCun Mexico! In September, STI will be taking divers to the beautiful island nation of St. Vincent and the Grenadines for spectacular reef diving… and remember, there are many more trips available… See your local SDI Dive Facility.

Scuba Travel International is the newest company in the SDI, TDI, ERDI organization and although the name is new, the director of STI is Steve Weaver, a diver whose travel business experience spans more than 20 years. All you have to do, is pick your destination and contact your local Scuba Diving International Facility and they will do the rest.
