Safety Freediver Skill Videos

The PFI Safety Freediver course is the industry standard for competition, recreational and spearfishing freedivers. The program was developed from running the most successful and largest competitions in the world, and is available now to all divers. These videos showcase a number of important skills from the program, and are published here to give students and prospective students a visual understanding of the fundamentals of the PFI Safety Freediver program.

Descents

Descending properly is an integral part of freediving. Every descent should begin with a proper breathe-up, pre-equalization, and use proper descent form. Head position on the descent and ascent is critical. Safety freedivers should have great form when descending.

Coaching and Responses

Coaching with a buddy is the bread and butter of safer freediving. Safety freedivers need to be proficient in coaching their buddy or performer. They should also understand the responses to a Loss of Motor Control (LMC), Blackout (BO) and problems underwater. Safety freedivers are the first line of safety during recreational, spearfishing or competition freediving. The safety freediver needs to be alert and proficient.

Statics
