5 Tips Setting up a Perfect Facebook Business Page

By Brittany Bozik

So you’re ready to dive into the social media game and want to ensure your Facebook Page is in tip top shape. Well, you’ve come to the right place! We’re here to help and have broken down the steps to make the most of your Facebook Page into five areas. They are:

  1. The basics
  2. Page info
  3. A Call to Action
  4. Inviting your audience
  5. Creating your first post and brainstorming consistent content

The basics

First things first, if you don’t already have a Facebook Page you’ll need to follow this link to create one. Once you’ve done so you’ll be directed to a page where you’ll be asked to enter your business name and category. When selecting your category, start typing and suggestions will populate.

Photos, add a profile and cover photo to your profile. This will establish more authority for your business as well as ensure people know who you are. A cover photo is a nice place to brand your page and give potential customers an idea about what you do.

Your username, this is the name your audience will be able to search you by when they want to go to your page, mention you in a post or tag you in a photo. Our suggestion is to keep this as close to your business name as possible so it’s easier for people to find you.

Page info

If there’s a space, to write something, fill it in. Use option possible to define and establish that this is your Facebook Page. Some fields to look for:

  • Description
  • Categories
  • Contact Info
  • Location
  • Hours
  • Extra options
    • Price range
    • Privacy policy link

Create a CTA

Under your cover photo on the right side of your Facebook Page you should see a button. This button is your CTA (aka call to action) button. There are a few different options to choose from when setting it up. These are:

  • Book with you
  • Contact you
  • Learn more about your business
  • Shop with you
  • Download your app or play your game

Each of these options has a few more suboptions underneath it so be sure to explore them all to find the best fit for you. Don’t forget, anything you chose here is NOT permanent! You can always try one option now and come back later and try another. Our advice would be to test out a few over a few weeks to see what works best for you.

Invite your audience

Do your friends and family know you have a Facebook Page? If not, invite them to like your page, THEN invite them to invite their friends. Ask your staff to do the same and create signage for your shop to encourage your customers to like the page as well. Send an email to your community and tell them to like your page. Get creative and run a giveaway for people who like your page from x date to y date.

Create your first post + Brainstorm content

Now it’s time to post! Create your first post telling your new audience about who you are, your brand values and what you can offer. Then start brainstorming for future posts, this is incredibly important because the more consistently you show up on social media the more people will know to expect posts from you. The more people who see your posts gives them more of a chance to be shared and the more shares your posts get, the more people who see them! It’s the circle of life in social media.

Now that you have the foundation for Facebook laid, it’s time to get out there and promote your business on it!
