New Alliance with Commercial Diving Academy and 40 Fathom Grotto

Grotto infrastructure upgrades are top-notchIt was officially announced recently that 40 Fathom Grotto and Scuba Diving International™, Technical Diving International™ and Emergency Response Diving International™ have entered into an exciting  new alliance to assist in the development of the Grotto as the Ultimate Diver Training Facility.

For years, the Scuba Diving International™ Group has been the leader in innovative diver training, offering its professional members and divers at all levels around the world the most respected and popular scuba education in the industry. By designating the newly renovated 40 Fathom Grotto a Five Star Facility the organization has once again shown its leadership and dedication to the success of its instructors, facilities and dive community.

40 Fathom Grotto, since enjoying the benefits of new ownership has been evolving as a premier in-land training site in the eastern United States.  Accessibility, depths up to 240 feet (73 metres), visibility ranging to over 40 feet (12 metres), constant water temperatures in the low seventies (21 plus degrees) and “always diveable” conditions are some of the reasons divers have been coming here for decades.

As many already know, in recent months the facilities at this world famous and historic dive site have been going through dramatic renovations in an effort to build a premier instructor and technical diving school.

“We welcome all members from SDI, TDI and ERDI to our facility. We have made several improvements, so diving the Grotto is now a more enjoyable experience.  Dive professionals will find improvements such as new classrooms, lodging, state of the art gas fill station and easy water access,” says Captain Ray Black, owner of Commercial Diving Academy and 40 Fathom Grotto.  “By providing these much needed changes divers will have a more enjoyable experience, thus visit more often and stay longer,” says Captain Black.

“This new alliance is a classic example of a win-win situation,” explained Brian Carney. The president of the SDI Group, Carney explained that the upgraded amenities at 40 Fathom provide a very desirable teaching environment for all levels of training from open water to advanced trimix. He commented that The Grotto provides an easy solution and a great alternative for instructors and facilities that cannot risk the economic challenges of blown out charters and marginal dive conditions. “40 Fathom is a year-round state of the art training facility for our members on top of which Black’s team is offering special rates for selected packages available only to SDI, TDI and ERDI retailers.”
