This October, from 11th-17th and 18-24th 2014 at Buddy Dive Resort Bonaire, Technical Diving International (TDI) and Dive Rite will be teaming up to make TECHPossible.
Have you considered tech diving? Consider this, TDI and Dive Rite will be running 2 consecutive week long events that will allow divers to try out new equipment configurations, refine their skills, and earn their TDI Intro to Tech Certification.
Divers will have the opportunity to take advantage of 4 different training sessions including:
Mission Briefing – Divers will have the opportunity to work with the TDI pros on their buoyancy, trim, propulsion techniques, lift bag deployment, and more.
Mission Rebreather – Divers will have the opportunity to test dive the Dive Rite O2ptima Closed Circuit Rebreather. A pre-dive briefing will include how a rebreather works, bailout procedures, and buoyancy control with a rebreather.
Mission Sidemount – Sidemount diving is a rapidly growing equipment configuration for both recreational and technical divers alike. Divers will have the opportunity to dive the Dive Rite Nomad system and practice sidemount specific skills.
Mission Trimix – Divers will have the opportunity to feel the benefits of diving with Trimix, a blend of nitrogen, oxygen, and helium. Dives will be conducted to a maximum depth of 30meters/ 100feet where the divers will notice reduced narcosis and easier work of breathing when compared to air or nitrox. A pre-dive briefing will include topics such as dive planning with Trimix, gas analysis, and the physiological effects of helium as a breathing gas.
At the end of the week, any participants who complete the Mission Briefing and 2 of the 3 other sessions will earn their TDI Intro to Tech Certification and will be issued an eLearning code for TDI Intro to Tech.
If you are interested in taking any courses while you are in Bonaire, the TDI, Dive Rite, and Buddy Dive Staff will be available to teach courses ranging from TDI Advanced Nitrox Diver through Trimix Instructor and everything in-between.
Divers who are already certified technical divers can take advantage of Buddy Dive’s accommodations including Tech Only Boats every morning, diving some of the deeper sites of Bonaire, and allowing dive times of up to two hours; doubles, sidemount, and deco cylinder rentals; as well as Trimix and Decompression gas fills at discounted rates for the week.
Dive and learn with the Pros
Lee Ann Hires
Brian will be teaching and assisting in all of the activities. He is your go-to-guy when it comes to deep and technical mixed gas diving, and will be more than happy to carry your tanks for you.
Lamar will be teaching and assisting in all of the activities. He is also the go-to guy for any questions on the history of tech diving or equipment. There’s a good chance that he had some part in making it what it is today (he’s been around since the very beginning)
Jared will be teaching and assisting with all of the activities. He is great source for advice on anything you may be having trouble with and for general tips and tricks on gear, and add a fresh young perspective on his dad’s old ideas.
Lee Ann will be acting as “mission control,” if you have any questions about the event, she is the one to see. If you are looking for the elusive frog fish come find her, finding it is is her daily mission.
Pete will be teaching and assisting in all activities. He will also be shooting photos throughout the event. If you have any questions on tech photography he is the man to see. Don’t worry about trying to find him, you can usually hear him from across the resort, just follow the sound of the Long Island accent.

Hear from past challengers:
WOW! That’s the first word that sums up my week. I want to again thank you all for making this week so special for me.I definitely learned so much and I certainly saw improvement from Monday to Friday in my own ability and confidence with what I learned.
I want to take this opportunity to thank you for a well planned program. The Intro to Tech hosted by TDI & DiveRite was well managed and executed without a glitch. The Intro to Tech was an incredible experience for me and my son, Michael
By coincidence I was in Bonaire when the first TEC week took place. Although I had no specific plans to get involved in the TEC stuff, I found the atmosphere so relaxed and inviting that I did some demo’s. One thing led to another and the people from SDI/TDI en Dive Rite accommodated my request to do a solo-diver course on the spot.
