We are pleased to advise all members that SDI/TDI Headquarters & SDI/TDI Australia are running an Instructor Trainer Workshop on the 04-10th March 2011 in Sydney, Australia.
The ITW is a seven days intensive program covering all aspects of Instructor Training that brings you to the highest level of training reached within International Training, exceeding those requirements of both the RSTC and AS/NZ4005.5. Successful candidates will be qualified to run both SDI IDCs and evaluate Instructor Candidates at IEs and will also be able to gain TDI Instructor Trainer status for those ratings for which they meet student certification and dive requirements:
· SDI Instructors: Successful completion of this program will allow you to offer SDI Instructor training to Divemasters and Assistant Instructors from any recognised agency. In addition you will be authorised to run SDI Instructor Evaluations for students who have completed an SDI IDC with another IT or IT Staff Instructor.
· IT Staff Instructors: Successful completion of this program will allow you to run SDI Instructor Evaluations for students who have completed an SDI IDC with another IT or IT Staff Instructor.
· TDI Instructors: Successful Completion will mean you will be eligible to upgrade your TDI Instructor Ratings to TDI Instructor Trainer Ratings dependent upon the number of Diver students you have certified at each level. The list of required student number can be found in the TDI S&P Manual (section 3 Leadership Levels) or can be downloaded from the SDI/TDI Web Site at IT Experience Minimums.
The SDI/TDI ITW will consist of classroom presentations over viewing the SDI & TDI Instructor Programs and Materials as well as covering the Training and Assessment criteria used when evaluating Leadership Level candidates. Sample Instructor Candidate Evaluations will be done in Confined Water, Open Water and in the Classroom with the IT Candidates learning how to correctly coach and grade the Instructor students. Applicants will need to have certified at least 150 Students (these do not need to be only SDI/TDI) with the range covering Open Water, Specialties, Leadership and, optionally, Technical.
The ITW fee is US$3000 with a US$500 deposit upon application. We also have a payment plan available to enable you to pay off the course fees over the next 12 months however as the US dollar is sitting at just over 90c take advantage of making an upfront payment at a great exchange rate. An Application for the Sydney ITW can be downloaded from the SDI/TDI Australia web site at this link Sydney ITW Application.
As an additional attraction the ITW is being held the week immediately prior to the Australian “OZTeK’11” dive show (see www.diveoztek.com.au ) and as such candidates will be able to remain to attend the show and also meet many of the local SDI/TDI Members.
March is a great time to visit for Diving and also to Holiday in Sydney and Australia before or after the ITW. A list of accommodation and transportation options will be advised closer to the date and if you would like tourist information just let us know we are happy to help!
