INTRO TO TECH

THE FIRST STEP TOWARDS TECHNICAL DIVING

Intro to tech is the initiation, the fundamentals, the base of knowledge and skills that will allow us to reach technical diving. Everything you learn in this course you will apply in further training such as Advanced Nitrox, Decompression Procedures, Trimix, etc.

You will learn new configurations, new equipment, and above all, you will work on skills such as trim and buoyancy, new propulsion techniques, and situational awareness that are essential for safe and efficient technical diving.

MAIN SKILLS YOU WILL LEARN IN THE COURSE

Buoyancy and Trim

These are two of the most important skills that every technical diver should have. It is necessary to master not only buoyancy, but also to maintain a correct horizontal position (trim).

New propulsion techniques

You will learn at least four different types of no-silting propulsion techniques to use in different situations during the dive. This will give you more control of all your movements.

Planning a dive

We will look for objectives that can be achieved by the whole team, choose the type of gas to use, assign tasks to the different members of the team and do a pre-dive check-up.

Other Skills

You will work also other skills like: regulator exchange, regulator recovery, ascents, descents, sharing gas, valve exercises (double cylinders), deploying a SMB, mask exercises, etc.

GREAT TRAINING TO GET STARTED IN TECHNICAL DIVING.

TDI’s Intro to Tech training is the complete package: In the theoretical part the student will gain knowledge of gases as well as the physics and physiology of diving. They will also learn different configurations for diving equipment and how to select the right equipment for each occasion.

Once in the water, in neutral buoyancy, in trim position and with a depth never exceeding 23 meters, the student will perform all the necessary exercises, such as new propulsion techniques, regulator change and recovery, gas donation with buddies, valve exercises (double cylinders), deploying a surface marker buoy, problem solving…

Qualification Obtained

At the end of the training, if the student successfully passes the tests, they will be certified as an Intro to Tech diver.

Student Prerequisites

· Minimum age 18, 15 with parental consent

· Minimum certification of SDI Open Water Scuba Diver or equivalent

· Provide proof of 25 logged open water dives

RELATED COURSES

ADVANCED NITROX

With the ADVANCED NITROX you will significantly reduce decompression time thanks to the use of a high percentage of O2 (40%-100%). You will learn the complete gas management, labeling process and stage management, ascent technique and all safety protocols.

DECOMPRESSION PROCEDURES

The objective of this course is to train divers how to plan and conduct a standard staged decompression dive not exceeding a maximum depth of 45 meters/150 feet. Students are permitted to utilize enriched air nitrox mixes or oxygen for decompression provided the gas mix is within their current certification level.
