Press Release

The Halcyon Symbios has recently achieved CE rating and is now fully approved for training within the TDI system.

TDI and Halcyon have been working together throughout the testing process to ensure that this innovative, modular, chest mounted rebreather can be taught within the TDI system.

A number of existing TDI instructors have been involved in the testing phase and building up their hours on the unit. Instructors can start teaching on the unit once they have completed initial user training, achieved the required number of hours, completed instructor training and have been approved by the Halcyon Symbios IT John Kendall.

“The Symbios CCR is ground breaking in some of it’s technology and we’re excited to be working with TDI to get more people diving and enjoying the unit,” said Kendall, who has been driving the training aspect of the Symbios project within Halcyon.

Within TDI, Mark Powell has been managing the incorporation of the Symbios into the TDI system.

“Halcyon has always stood for quality and so we knew the product would be very well designed and built,” said Powell. “It has been very easy to work with Halcyon, their approach to testing and standards has been very compatible with ours. It is always a challenge to bootstrap the initial instructor base, but the cooperation between the two organisations and the high calibre of the initial instructors has made this relatively straightforward.”
